Dental Implant Cost in Mumbai (2026): What You Actually Pay and Why

A single dental implant in Mumbai costs ₹30,000 to ₹75,000 including the crown. What that covers, what pushes the price up, and the questions to ask before you pay.

A single dental implant in Mumbai costs roughly ₹30,000 to ₹45,000 for a standard implant system, including the abutment and the crown, and ₹50,000 to ₹75,000 for a premium system such as Straumann or Nobel Biocare. If your jawbone is too thin, a bone graft adds ₹8,000 to ₹20,000. The wide range says more about the brand, the crown material and the preparatory work your mouth needs than about any one clinic being expensive or cheap.

This guide explains what you are paying for, what pushes the price up, why two quotes for the same tooth can differ by ₹20,000, and what to ask before you pay anything.

What an implant is, in three parts

An implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up. There are three separate components, and a fair quote should cover all of them.

  1. The implant. A small titanium screw placed in the jawbone under local anaesthesia. Over three to six months the bone grows onto it, a process called osseointegration.
  2. The abutment. A connector that screws into the implant and sits above the gum, ready to hold the crown.
  3. The crown. The visible tooth, made in a laboratory to match your other teeth.

When a clinic says “implant ₹25,000”, it may mean the screw alone. The abutment and crown can add ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 on top, which is why per-tooth, all-inclusive quotes are the only sensible comparison.

What a full quote usually includes

At most established clinics in Mumbai, a per-tooth implant price includes:

  • A digital X-ray and treatment planning
  • The implant surgery under local anaesthesia
  • A healing abutment while the bone integrates
  • The final abutment and crown
  • Follow-up visits for a period after the crown is fitted, often a year

What is usually not included, and should be listed separately: a bone graft or sinus lift, a 3D CBCT scan if one is needed, extraction of the failing tooth, gum treatment before surgery, and a temporary tooth for the front of the mouth while the implant heals.

What pushes the price up

The implant brand

This is the single biggest variable. Premium systems such as Straumann and Nobel Biocare have decades of published research, a long track record and worldwide availability of spare parts. Standard systems, including several well-regarded Korean and Indian brands, use the same grade of titanium and a similar design at a considerably lower price. In Mumbai the difference is roughly ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 per tooth.

Which one you need depends on the case. For a single back tooth in a healthy jaw, a standard system does the job well. For a front tooth where the gum line is on show, or a jaw with thin bone, the extra predictability of a premium system can be worth paying for. A good dentist will tell you which category your case falls into rather than defaulting to the most expensive option.

The crown material

A metal-ceramic crown costs less than a zirconia or all-ceramic crown. Zirconia is stronger and looks more natural, particularly at the front. Ask which crown is included in the quote; upgrading later is possible but adds to the price.

Bone grafts and sinus lifts

If a tooth has been missing for years, the bone under it shrinks. A graft rebuilds it so the implant has something solid to hold on to, and costs ₹8,000 to ₹20,000 depending on the material and how much is needed. Upper back teeth sometimes need a sinus lift for the same reason. Neither is a sales tactic; without enough bone an implant will not integrate.

How many teeth

Two adjacent missing teeth do not always need two implants; an implant-supported bridge can replace two or three teeth on two implants. For a full arch, options start with a removable implant-supported denture at ₹1,20,000 to ₹2,50,000 per arch. Per-tooth costs come down as the number of implants goes up, so ask for a whole-plan price rather than multiplying a single-tooth figure.

Timing

An immediate implant, placed in the same sitting as the extraction, saves a visit and some healing time, but not every socket is suitable. A temporary crown on a front tooth during healing is convenient but adds laboratory cost.

Why quotes differ between clinics

If you collect three quotes for the same tooth you will probably get three different numbers. The usual reasons:

  • They are quoting different things. Implant only versus implant, abutment and crown. Standard system versus premium. Graft included or not.
  • Laboratory quality. Crowns from a well-equipped lab, with a proper shade match and a bite check, cost more than crowns made quickly and cheaply.
  • Overheads. Rent in South Mumbai or Bandra is higher than in the eastern suburbs, and that shows up in the price of everything, not just implants.
  • Follow-up and replacement policy. Some quotes include a year of follow-up visits and a replacement policy if the implant fails to integrate; others charge for each visit.
  • Who is doing the work. A dentist with formal implant training and a few hundred cases behind them will usually charge more than a general dentist placing their first few, and that difference is often worth paying for.

None of this means the cheapest quote is a bad one or the dearest is a good one. It means you need to know what each number covers.

Questions to ask before you pay

  1. Is this price per tooth, and does it include the abutment and the crown?
  2. Which implant brand will you use, and will I get the implant card with the brand and batch number? You should; it matters if you ever need a repair elsewhere.
  3. What crown material is included?
  4. Do I need a graft or a sinus lift, and is it in this quote?
  5. How many visits, over how many months?
  6. What happens if the implant does not integrate? Is a replacement covered?
  7. Is EMI available, and is any interest built into the price?
  8. What X-rays or scans are needed, and are they included?

A clinic that answers these clearly, in writing, is one you can trust with the rest.

How long the whole thing takes

Most single implants take three to six months from surgery to final crown. The surgery itself is usually under an hour, the bone then needs time to bond to the implant, and the crown is fitted once that has happened. Front teeth can be given a temporary tooth in the meantime. If a graft is needed, add a few months for it to heal first.

At i-Smile

At i-Smile Dental Clinic in Ghatkopar East, a single standard implant with abutment and crown is ₹30,000 to ₹45,000, a premium Straumann or Nobel Biocare implant is ₹50,000 to ₹75,000, and a bone graft, only when the jawbone is too thin to hold an implant, is ₹8,000 to ₹20,000. The price includes digital X-ray planning, surgery under local anaesthesia, the healing abutment and final crown, and follow-up visits for a year. EMI is available. Dr. Upasana Gosalia completed hands-on training in implant dentistry at Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in 2010 and has placed over 275 implants.

If you are weighing up an implant, book a consultation for ₹350. It is adjusted against your treatment on the same visit, and you leave with a clear plan and an exact quote for your case.

Frequently asked

How much does one dental implant cost in Mumbai in 2026?
Roughly ₹30,000 to ₹45,000 for a standard implant system including the abutment and crown, and ₹50,000 to ₹75,000 for a premium system such as Straumann or Nobel Biocare. A bone graft, if the jaw is too thin, adds ₹8,000 to ₹20,000.
Why do implant quotes differ so much between clinics?
Mostly because clinics quote different things. Some quote the implant alone and add the abutment and crown later; others quote a full package. The implant brand, the crown material, whether a graft is included, and the clinic's overheads all change the number. Always compare full, per-tooth quotes.
Is a bone graft always needed?
No. Most single implants in a healthy jaw do not need one. A graft is used only when the bone is too thin or too short to hold the implant securely, which is more common when a tooth has been missing for years or was lost to gum disease.
Can I pay for an implant in instalments?
Many clinics, including i-Smile, offer EMI options for implants. Ask what the monthly amount would be and whether any interest is built into the price.
