Who veneers suit

A good fit if you have

  • Chipped or worn front teeth
  • Stains that whitening cannot shift, such as fluorosis or tetracycline marks
  • Small gaps between the front teeth
  • Teeth that are slightly uneven, short or oddly shaped
  • A smile you want improved before a wedding, a new job or a big event
  • Old, discoloured composite bonding that needs replacing

We may suggest something else if

  • Heavy night-time grinding, unless you commit to a night guard
  • Crowded or rotated teeth, where aligners first give a far better result
  • Teeth with large fillings or root canals, which usually need crowns instead
  • Gum disease or cavities, which are treated before any cosmetic work

How it works

Veneers at i-Smile, step by step

  1. 1

    Smile consultation

You tell us what you dislike about your smile. We photograph your teeth, check the bite and gums, and discuss how many teeth to treat and which material suits you.

  2. 2

    Design and trial smile

For porcelain veneers, a wax model or digital design becomes a temporary mock-up placed over your teeth. You see the shape and length in your own mouth before deciding.

  3. 3

    Minimal preparation

A thin layer of enamel, about the thickness of a fingernail, is smoothed from the front of each tooth so the veneer sits flush. Composite veneers often need none at all.

  4. 4

    Temporaries

While the laboratory makes porcelain veneers, you wear temporaries that already look like the final design. This step takes 7 to 10 days.

  5. 5

    Bonding

Each veneer is checked for fit and colour, then bonded with a light-cured resin. Composite veneers are sculpted directly onto the tooth in the same visit.

  6. 6

    Bite check and polish

We check that your teeth meet comfortably, polish the edges, and show you how to care for them. A review visit follows after two weeks.

Composite or porcelain?

Composite veneers are sculpted directly onto your teeth from tooth-coloured resin, shaped by hand and hardened with a light. Everything happens in one visit, usually an hour or so for four to six teeth. They cost a fraction of porcelain, need little or no tooth preparation, and are easy to repair. The trade-offs are a shorter life, a slightly less glassy finish, and a tendency to pick up stains over time.

Porcelain veneers, including the E-max lithium disilicate type we use most, are made in a laboratory from an impression or scan of your prepared teeth. Porcelain reflects light the way enamel does, holds its colour, and resists stains. They take two to three visits and cost more, but last roughly twice as long.

A good rule of thumb: composite for a single chipped tooth, for a younger patient, or when budget is tight; porcelain for a full smile makeover meant to last a decade or more.

What treatment feels like

The consultation is mostly talking and photographs. Bring pictures of smiles you like and of your own smile from years ago if it has changed.

The mock-up visit is the fun part. A temporary material is pressed over your unprepared teeth in the planned shape, and you look in the mirror, take photos, and go home with it for a day if you like. Changes are easy at this stage. Once you approve, the laboratory copies that design exactly.

Preparation and bonding visits feel like a long, gentle filling appointment. There is polishing, some rinsing, a brief taste of the bonding agent, and a bright blue light. You leave with a smile that looks finished.

Why patients choose i-Smile for veneers

  • Trial smile before commitment. You never approve a design on a screen alone; you see it on your own teeth.
  • Conservative preparation. Dr. Upasana removes the minimum enamel needed for the veneer to look natural, and often none for composite.
  • Honest advice on alternatives. If whitening or a short aligner course will get you most of the way for less, you will hear it first.
  • Matching, not just white. Veneers are shaded to sit naturally with your other teeth and your complexion, not a single flat white.
  • Care included. A two-week review, a polish at your six-monthly check-up, and a night guard recommendation if you grind.

Caring for veneers

Brush and floss as you would natural teeth, with a non-abrasive toothpaste. Avoid using your front teeth to bite through very hard foods such as raw carrots or hard crusts; cut them instead. If you clench or grind at night, wear the night guard we make for you; it is the single best way to make porcelain last. Come for a check-up every six months so small chips can be polished before they grow.

What changes the price

  • Material. Porcelain and E-max cost more than composite.
  • Number of teeth. Six to eight for a full smile; one or two for a single repair.
  • Design work. A full digital smile design and mock-up is included for porcelain cases.
  • Preparatory treatment. Whitening, a cleaning or gum contouring before veneers are quoted separately.
  • Night guard, recommended for grinders.

Questions patients ask

Veneers FAQs

How much do veneers cost in Ghatkopar, Mumbai?
At i-Smile, composite veneers cost ₹4,500 to ₹8,000 per tooth and porcelain or E-max veneers ₹12,000 to ₹25,000 per tooth. Most smile makeovers treat the six to eight teeth that show when you smile, so a full porcelain case is typically ₹80,000 to ₹2,00,000. You receive a fixed quote after the consultation, and EMI options are available.
Do veneers ruin your teeth?
Porcelain veneers need a very thin layer of enamel removed so they do not look bulky, which is permanent, so the tooth will always need a veneer or similar covering. Composite veneers usually need no removal and can be taken off later. Done on healthy teeth with proper bonding, veneers do not weaken the tooth or cause decay underneath.
How long do veneers last?
Porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 15 years and often longer with a night guard and regular check-ups. Composite veneers last 5 to 7 years and can be polished or repaired in the chair when they chip or dull. Avoid biting nails, pens and ice, and open packets with scissors, not teeth.
How many veneers will I need?
It depends on how many teeth show when you smile widely. Many people need only the four to six upper front teeth. Some need eight or ten to keep the sides matching. Occasionally one or two veneers fix a single chipped or stained tooth. We decide this together at the consultation.
Does getting veneers hurt?
Composite veneers rarely need any anaesthetic. For porcelain veneers, the preparation is so shallow that most people are comfortable without numbing, though we offer it. Teeth may feel a little sensitive to cold for a few days after bonding.
Should I whiten my teeth before veneers?
Yes, if you plan to whiten at all. Veneers are made to match the shade of your teeth and cannot be whitened later. Whiten first, wait two weeks for the shade to settle, then choose the veneer colour.
Can veneers stain like natural teeth?
Porcelain is highly stain-resistant; tea, coffee and turmeric do not soak in. Composite resin is more porous and can pick up stains over the years, which is why it needs polishing at check-ups. Smoking discolours both at the edges.
I have a wedding in six weeks. Is that enough time?
Yes. Composite veneers can be done in a single visit. Porcelain veneers need two to three visits over two to three weeks, plus a fortnight of settling in. Book the consultation as early as you can so there is room for whitening first and a review afterwards.
Are veneers better than braces or aligners for crooked teeth?
Veneers change the look of the teeth; they do not move them. For slightly uneven teeth, veneers can make a small difference look straight. For genuine crowding or rotation, aligners give a healthier, longer-lasting result, and veneers afterwards, if still wanted, need far less tooth removal.
Which dentist in Ghatkopar does veneers?
Dr. Upasana Gosalia at i-Smile Dental Clinic, Rajawadi Signal, Ghatkopar East, has done cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers since founding the clinic in 2012. Every case starts with a trial smile so you approve the design before it is made.
