Is it right for you?

Who smile makeover suits

A good fit if you have

  • Chipped, worn, uneven or discoloured front teeth
  • Small gaps or slightly crooked teeth that you do not want to spend a year straightening
  • Old, mismatched fillings or crowns on front teeth
  • A gummy smile or an uneven gum line
  • Stains that whitening alone has not shifted, such as fluorosis or tetracycline marks
  • Anyone with a wedding or event coming up who wants a planned, coordinated result

We may suggest something else if

  • Untreated gum disease or decay, which is treated first
  • Heavy grinding or clenching without a night guard, which can chip veneers
  • Severe crowding or bite problems, where orthodontics is needed before or instead of veneers
  • Anyone hoping for a perfectly white, perfectly uniform smile that would look artificial on their face

How it works

Smile Makeover at i-Smile, step by step

  1. 1

    Smile consultation

We photograph your face and teeth, listen to what you dislike about your smile, examine your teeth and gums and take digital X-rays to check that everything underneath is sound.

  2. 2

    Digital smile design

The new smile is designed on your photographs, with tooth length, width and the curve of the smile line matched to your lips and face. You see this before anything else happens.

  3. 3

    Trial mock-up

The design is transferred onto your actual teeth in temporary material, with no drilling. You can look, smile, talk and photograph it, and ask for changes.

  4. 4

    Foundation work

Cleaning, gum treatment and whitening are done first so the final shade is matched to your brightest teeth. If teeth need moving, aligners come in at this stage.

  5. 5

    Veneers or crowns

Teeth are prepared under local anaesthetic, an impression or scan is taken and temporaries are fitted. The final veneers or crowns are bonded one to two weeks later.

  6. 6

    Final check and protection

The bite is checked, edges are polished and, if you grind, a night guard is made. We review the result at a follow-up visit.

What goes into a smile makeover

A smile makeover is not one treatment. It is a plan that combines whichever treatments your smile needs, in the right order, so that the result looks like it belongs on your face. The usual ingredients are:

  • Teeth whitening to lift the base shade before anything else is matched to it.
  • Porcelain or composite veneers on six to ten front teeth to change shape, length, colour and small alignment problems.
  • Crowns on teeth that are too broken or heavily filled to hold a veneer.
  • Clear aligners or braces when teeth are crowded enough that veneers alone would look bulky.
  • Gum contouring to even up the gum line or reduce a gummy smile.
  • Composite bonding and edge reshaping for small chips and uneven edges.

Most makeovers at i-Smile use two or three of these. Someone with worn, slightly yellow front teeth might need whitening and six veneers. Someone with one dark tooth and a small gap might need one crown and some bonding. The point of the design stage is to work out the smallest set of treatments that gets you the result, not the largest.

Everything starts with digital smile design. We photograph your face and teeth, and the new smile is designed on the photographs so that tooth length, width and the curve of the smile follow your lips and face. That design is then turned into a trial mock-up on your actual teeth, in temporary material, so you can see and feel it before any tooth is prepared.

What treatment actually feels like

The design and mock-up visits involve no drilling and no injections. You leave the mock-up visit having seen a preview you can photograph and show family, and the mock-up is simply peeled off.

Whitening is done in the clinic in a single visit, with the gums protected. Some people feel short, sharp zings of sensitivity for a day afterwards.

Veneer preparation is done under local anaesthetic. A thin layer of enamel, often less than a millimetre, is removed from the front of each tooth and an impression or scan is taken. You wear temporaries for one to two weeks while the porcelain veneers are made, then they are bonded in a single longer visit. Crowns follow the same pattern with a little more shaping. The new teeth feel smooth and slightly larger for a few days, and speech settles within a week.

If aligners are part of the plan, they come first and add months, but the veneers that follow are thinner and more conservative because the teeth are already in the right place.

Why patients choose i-Smile for smile makeovers

  • You see it before you commit. Digital smile design and a trial mock-up are included in every makeover at i-Smile, so the shape and length are agreed before any tooth is touched.
  • One dentist designs and delivers. Dr. Upasana Gosalia, whose work covers cosmetic dentistry, clear aligners and implants, plans the case and does every stage herself, so the whitening shade, veneer colour and gum line are coordinated by one pair of eyes.
  • Aligners and veneers under one roof. With over 390 aligner cases since 2012, we can move teeth first when that gives a more conservative result, rather than over-preparing them to hide crowding.
  • CAD/CAM support for veneers and crowns that fit precisely at the gum line.
  • Rated 5.0 on Practo from over 700 reviews and 4.9 on Google, serving Ghatkopar since 2012.
  • EMI available, and the ₹350 consultation fee is adjusted against your treatment.

Aftercare: keeping your new smile

  • Brush twice daily with a non-abrasive toothpaste and floss normally. Veneers and crowns do not decay, but the tooth at their edges can.
  • Avoid biting nails, pens or ice, and do not open packets with your teeth. Porcelain is strong in chewing but chips under sharp point loads.
  • If you grind or clench at night, wear a night guard, which we can make for you. This is the single biggest factor in how long veneers last.
  • Tea, coffee, red wine and turmeric do not stain porcelain, but they do stain the natural teeth around it and any composite bonding. A whitening touch-up every year or two keeps the natural teeth matched.
  • Keep six-monthly cleaning and check-up visits so the margins can be checked.

With this care, porcelain veneers and crowns commonly last 10 to 15 years. Composite work is expected to need refreshing sooner.

What changes the price

  • Number of teeth. Six front teeth is the usual minimum for a full-smile change, eight to ten if you show more teeth when you smile.
  • Veneers or crowns. Crowns, and the post and core sometimes needed under them, cost more per tooth than veneers.
  • Porcelain or composite. Composite veneers cost a fraction of porcelain but last a shorter time and stain more.
  • Orthodontics first. Adding aligners adds their cost but often reduces the number of veneers needed.
  • Gum work. Contouring is quoted separately.
  • Whitening. Included as the first step in most makeover plans.

Questions patients ask

Smile Makeover FAQs

How much does a smile makeover cost in Ghatkopar, Mumbai?
At i-Smile, a smile makeover costs ₹60,000 to ₹2,50,000 depending on the number of teeth treated and the materials used. That range covers the digital smile design, the trial mock-up and all the final veneers, crowns or bonding in the plan. Whitening plus six composite veneers sits near the lower end, and ten porcelain veneers with gum contouring near the top. You get a fixed quote after the design visit, EMI is available, and the ₹350 consultation fee is adjusted against treatment.
What does a smile makeover include?
Whatever your smile needs, planned together. Most combine two or three of whitening, veneers on six to ten front teeth, one or two crowns, composite bonding, gum contouring and, when the teeth are crowded, aligners first. Every makeover at i-Smile includes a digital design and a trial mock-up before any tooth is prepared.
Will my new smile look fake?
Not if it is designed for your face. Very white, very even, very square teeth are what people notice as artificial. We design tooth length to your lips, keep small natural variations, and choose a shade a step or two lighter than your natural teeth rather than the whitest on the chart. The trial mock-up is where you decide what feels right.
Do veneers damage your teeth?
Porcelain veneers need a thin layer of enamel removed from the front of the tooth, usually well under a millimetre, and that is permanent. The tooth will always need a veneer or crown from then on. Composite veneers and bonding often need no drilling at all. We use the most conservative option that will give a lasting result, and we will tell you if moving the teeth first would let us remove less.
How long does a smile makeover take?
If it is whitening and veneers, about two to four weeks over three to five visits. If teeth need to be straightened first with aligners, add six to twelve months. We set out the timeline at the design visit, and can often plan around a wedding or event date if you tell us early.
Can I see the result before committing?
Yes. The digital design shows the new smile on your own photographs, and the trial mock-up puts it on your actual teeth in temporary material so you can look in the mirror, smile, talk and photograph it. Nothing is drilled until you are happy with the mock-up.
Do I need aligners before veneers?
Only if the teeth are crowded or rotated enough that veneers alone would need heavy grinding to line up, or would look bulky. Mild irregularity can be corrected with veneers. Moderate crowding is usually better moved first, so the veneers stay thin. We show you both options at the design stage.
How long does a smile makeover last?
Porcelain veneers and crowns commonly last 10 to 15 years with good care and a night guard if you grind. Composite veneers and bonding last three to five years before they need polishing or replacing. Whitening fades gradually, and a touch-up every year or two keeps the natural teeth matched to the porcelain.
Does a smile makeover hurt?
The design, mock-up and whitening stages involve no injections. Veneer and crown preparation is done under local anaesthetic, so you feel pressure but no pain. Some sensitivity to cold for a few days after whitening or preparation is normal.
